GelatoLab was born from a simple idea: the tools that professional gelato makers need shouldn't be locked away in spreadsheets and notebooks. We wanted to build something better — a platform that combines real gelato expertise with modern software.

Our Story

GelatoLab was created by Morgan and Jordan Morano. Morgan is a gelato maker, educator, and founder of Morano Gelato. After decades working in the gelato industry — from operating a nationally recognized gelato shop to teaching and consulting — she saw firsthand how difficult it was for makers to access the formulation tools they needed.

Jordan is a software engineer who saw an opportunity to take Morgan's deep expertise and build it into something any maker could use. Together, they created GelatoLab — a platform that turns real-world gelato knowledge into practical, everyday tools.

Our Mission

We believe that better tools make better gelato. Our mission is to give every maker — from home hobbyists to professional kitchens — access to the formulation insights and workflow tools that were previously only available through years of hands-on experience.

What We Believe

  • Precision matters. Gelato is science and art. Understanding the numbers behind your recipe — solids, fats, sugars, sweetening power — and starting with well-balanced base recipes is what separates good gelato from great gelato.
  • Knowledge should be accessible. Professional formulation techniques and foundational base recipes shouldn't be gatekept. Every maker deserves tools that help them understand and improve their craft.
  • AI as a guide, not a replacement. Our AI tools are trained on real expertise. They suggest and assist, but the maker is always in charge of the creative process.
